City Announces New Fire Marshal

Gainesville Fire Chief Jon Canada today announced the hiring of Chad Payne as the new Fire Marshal for the City of Gainesville. Chief Canada said he is very excited to have Payne on board. “Through Chad’s leadership and expertise we will continue our commitment to work closely with the citizens and community leaders to ensure the safety of the community through fire prevention and public education,” Chief Canada said.

Payne started his Fire Service career as a Firefighter in the United States Navy in 1990. He attended Lanier Technical College and the Georgia Regional Police Academy. He is a National Registry Paramedic, P.O.S.T certified Peace Officer, holds a national certification as a Fire Inspector, a Georgia Certified Fire Arson Investigator and a Public Safety Diver. Payne is also a member of Safe Kids of Georgia and has served as a reserve Deputy with the Hall County Sheriff’s Department.
Most recently, Payne served as a Lieutenant with the Hall County Fire Services Fire Marshal’s Office as a Fire Inspector and Arson Investigator.
