Join us in the Historic Downtown Gainesville Square on Saturday, November 20 for Jingle Mingle and the Lighting of the Chicken!  As one of the Southeast’s quirkiest, fun, family-friendly events, this is the perfect way to start your holiday season here in the Poultry Capital of the World!

The Downtown Square will be alive with the holiday spirit including open houses in most of the stores, live music, carriage rides, kiddie train rides, Santa and his arrival on a Gainesville Fire Engine, the Coca-Cola bear, entertainment and the grand LIGHTING OF THE CHICKEN!

Join us Saturday, November 20 from 4pm-8pm when we LIGHT IT UP, (the 25 foot metal chicken sculpture on top of Main Street Market) on the Downtown Gainesville Square!

4pm - 6pm: 

• Kiddy train rides through Santa's Village at the Hunt Tower
• Carriage rides, board at the corner of Bradford and Washington Street 
• Coca-Cola bear
• Face painting 
• Open Houses in historic buildings: sales, live music and refreshments

5pm:

• Santa Arrives on a fire truck

5-8pm:

• Photos with Santa on the Square

6:15pm: 

Lighting of the Chicken Ceremony begins with a holiday welcome from Mayor Danny Dunagan, Coca-Cola bear, vocalist Lainie Ewers from Brenau University and Elevate Performing Arts Studios dancers

6:30pm: The Chicken is Lit!

6:30 - 8pm: Open Houses continue with photo opportunities downtown

Yes, there is handicap parking available in the Main Street Parking Deck, located at 301 Main St. 

Are you accepting vendors?
This event supports downtown businesses and does not include vendors. We encourage event-goers to purchase food and drinks from nearby restaurants and to browse the downtown shops for a hometown holiday shopping experience.
