Please review the following information to familiarize yourself with existing road and lane closures across the City of Gainesville. Maps posted with the text help place the road closures, but also provide detour information, if applicable.
*ONGOING* Partial Dixon Drive closure set 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. daily starting Aug. 7
To help expedite the replacement of old water and sewer mains, Dixon Drive between Wessell Road and Bradford Street will have a daytime closure to non-residents starting Monday, Aug. 7.
The closure, considered phase No. 1 of a multiphase action plan, will take effect from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and last for approximately four weeks. Phase No. 2 will call for the closure of Dixon Drive between Bradford Street and Holly Drive.
To bypass the latest Dixon Drive closure, motorists can use the following detours (see attached map):
- If turning from Green Street onto Holly Drive > Piedmont Road > Bradford Street > Stillwood Drive > Wessell Road > Dixon Drive OR Holly Drive > Piedmont Road > Bradford Street > Ridgewood Avenue > Wilshire Road
- If turning from Green Street onto Ridgewood Avenue > Wilshire Road OR Ridgewood Avenue > Bradford Street > Stillwood Drive > Wessell Road > Dixon Drive

*ONGOING* Allen Creek Road closed until late January 2024
Allen Creek Road between Monroe Drive and the Hall County Public Safety Facility will now remain closed through January 2024. It was the City of Gainesville's hope the road would be reopened in December, but the closure has since been extended until Jan. 26, 2024.
Traffic to the Allen Creek Soccer Complex will not be impacted.
Traffic to the Hall County Public Safety Facility will be rerouted to Candler Road (state Route 60) > Fullenwider Road > newly constructed James Simpson Boulevard.
Those traveling in the area are urged to drive carefully, and watch for construction workers, flaggers and equipment during this time.
