[ARCHIVED] Food Truck Friday finale set Aug. 18 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 15, 2023) – The City of Gainesville serves up its final course of Food Truck Friday this week at Lake Lanier Olympic Park (LLOP).

Food Truck Friday, which kicked off in April, gets underway at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, offering attendees a generous lineup of food and beverage trucks to choose from.

"We're always sad to see the Food Truck Friday series come to a close, but we're beyond happy with the turnout we saw this season," said LLOP Special Events Manager Morgan Wingler. “The end of Food Truck Fridays also means the Gainesville Chicken Festival, our biggest event of the year, is near and will be here before we know it!"

The following food trucks are expected at the August event: Tap It Growlers, offering beer and wine; Downtown Drafts, also offering beer and wine; Lobster Dogs, offering fresh lobster, shrimp and crab dogs; Brookton Catfish School, offering its famous catfish and hush puppies; All Around The World, offering world fare; Peyton’s Pie Co., offering wood-fired pizza crafted using an old-world technique; Carniceria Tapatia, offering a fusion of Mexican, Latin and Spanish cuisines; EggRoll Boyz, offering a menu of mouthwatering egg rolls with different flavors and flair; Azucar Cuban Cafe, offering Cuban sandwiches and more; Paw Paws Peanuts, offering boiled peanuts and freshly squeezed lemonade; King of Pops, offering handcrafted fruit and ice cream popsicles; Street Sweets, offering gourmet Middle Eastern-American fusion pastries; Juke N Jive Creamery, offering creamy, melt-in-your-mouth scoops of ice cream; and Snowie Atlanta, offering refreshing flavored shaved ice.

The Murphs, an American roots-rock band based out of Atlanta, take the stage from 5:30-8:45 p.m. to energize the crowd, getting them on their feet and dancing to the beat. From blues and folk to rock and country, a wide variety of genres are found in Austin Coleman's and Cody Marlowe's music – all directed to the expression of true, honest rock 'n' roll.

Retail vendors in attendance will include Gypsy Cowboy, a Buford-based clothing store; and the City of Gainesville, which will be slinging some City- and LLOP-branded merch.

Those interested in making the most of their night out may reserve in advance private lakeside seating, which includes a table on the grandstands with seating for six. A fee of $45 secures your table, which includes four seat cushions (for you to keep) and two end chairs. Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Make your reservation here.

As construction on The Boathouse at LLOP remains ongoing, carpooling is encouraged, but off-site overflow parking will be available at New Horizons Lanier Park, located at 675 White Sulphur Road, Gainesville. Take the stress out of finding parking by riding the free shuttle, available from 5-9:15 p.m., to and from the venue. Limited on-site parking will be available at LLOP, located at 3105 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville – just look for the tower!
