GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 3, 2023) – To help expedite the replacement of old water and sewer mains, Dixon Drive between Wessell Road and Bradford Street will have a daytime closure to non-residents starting Monday, Aug. 7.
The closure, considered phase No. 1 of a multiphase action plan, will take effect from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and last for approximately four weeks. Phase No. 2 will call for the closure of Dixon Drive between Bradford Street and Holly Drive.
To bypass the latest Dixon Drive closure, motorists can use the following detours (see attached map):
- If turning from Green Street onto Holly Drive > Piedmont Road > Bradford Street > Stillwood Drive > Wessell Road > Dixon Drive OR Holly Drive > Piedmont Road > Bradford Street > Ridgewood Avenue > Wilshire Road
- If turning from Green Street onto Ridgewood Avenue > Wilshire Road OR Ridgewood Avenue > Bradford Street > Stillwood Drive > Wessell Road > Dixon Drive
