GAINESVILLE, Ga. (July 14, 2023) – Portions of Dixon and Holly drives will reduce to one lane next week when the Gainesville Department of Water Resources starts replacing old water and sewer mains.
Construction is slated to begin Monday, July 17, continuing from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday – plus the occasional Saturday – until further notice. Work should be completed within 180 consecutive calendar days.
The project calls for existing 6-inch water and sewer mains to be replaced with new 8-inch DIP (ductile iron pipe) water and 8-inch PVC (polyvinyl chloride) sewer pipes. Additional fire hydrants will also be installed for enhanced fire protection.
Drivers should note 100- to 200-linear-foot sections of roadway will be rough and unlevel until Dixon Drive can be repaved. Until then, each section will be temporarily restored with concrete.
Those navigating the area are urged to drive carefully, and watch for construction workers and equipment.
The City of Gainesville thanks you for your patience during this progress.
