[ARCHIVED] Beach Bash 2023 a ‘shore thing’ for July 14 at Lake Lanier

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (July 11, 2023) – Gainesville may be hundreds of miles from the ocean, but the City is gearing up to ride the wave that is Beach Bash 2023.

Beach Bash is slated for 5-10 p.m. Friday, July 14, on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. There, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy some sand, surf and sun in their own North Georgia community.

“We couldn't be more excited to have Beach Bash returning for 2023,” said Lake Lanier Olympic Park Special Events Manager Morgan Wingler. “We've had a great start to our event season with Food Truck Fridays and Beach Bash takes things to another level.”

Offerings will include the opportunity to play in 100 tons of sand with sand toys and the chance to discover “hidden treasures”, plus an inflatable waterslide, limbo and hula contests.

“We're bringing in 100 tons of sand and turning the plaza into Gainesville's hottest beach,” Wingler said. “With hula-hoop and limbo contests, a waterslide for the kids and fun activities from our community partners, there's plenty for everyone.”

Entertainment professionals jB JAMS will keep the gathering lively and upbeat playing beachside tunes throughout the evening. WDUN AM/FM, known as "North Georgia's Newstalk", will be playing smooth tunes.

Refuel with tasty offerings from the following food and beverage trucks: Downtown Drafts, Tap It Growlers, Carniceria Tapitia, Bill’s Grills On Wheels, The Inked Pig, Meatballerz, Lobster Dogs, Peyton's Pie Co., Pico's Hot Dogs, EggRoll Boyz, PattyKakes, King of Pops, Kona Ice, Juke N Jive Creamery and Paw Paw's Peanuts.

The Gainesville Department of Water Resources Environmental Services Division will have fun activities on hand, while sand art for kids is offered at another tent, in addition to the Rugged Axe Throwing Co.

In addition to scoping out retailer Capriluna, be sure to visit with City of Gainesville staff who will be slinging some freebies and cool LLOP- and Gainesville-branded merch at the “The Gateway”, the Gainesville Convention and Visitors Bureau’s new mobile welcome center.

The following vendors will also be on site with information for the public: Lake Lanier Rowing Club, Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club, Moore's Wealth Management, Allora Gainesville, Army National Guard, Brenau University, Longstreet Clinic, Bell Real Estate Group, Safe Kids Northeast Georgia and INK.

The event is open to “anyone and everyone”, Wingler said, and much like Food Truck Fridays, you may also reserve a table on the grandstands for $60, which includes seating for six. Two courtesy docks will also be available for those attending by boat or watercraft.

Park away from the hustle and bustle at either Riverbend Church or Gainesville Middle School - East Campus, and shuttle to and from the event between 4:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Riverbend Church is located at 1715 Cleveland Highway, while Gainesville Middle School is located at 1581 Community Way.
