West Academy Street to partially close for paving

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (June 2, 2022) – As part of the City of Gainesville's ongoing Downtown Streetscape Improvements Project, West Academy Street will partially close for paving, allowing for smoother sailing from Washington to Green streets.

Crews will begin milling around 9 p.m. Sunday, June 5, then immediately transition into paving milled sections the following morning, June 6. Weather permitting, work will take four to five days to complete milling, paving and re-striping of lanes.

Although the roadway will remain open to traffic, one lane will be closed. If traveling in the area, please prepare for and expect delays.

Those navigating the area are urged to drive carefully, and watch for construction workers and equipment during this time.

Please check gainesville.org and/or the @GainesvilleGeorgiaGovernment Facebook page for potential updates.
