[ARCHIVED] Gainesville CVB launches ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (May 10, 2022) – You’re invited! The Gainesville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) welcomes you to experience for yourself why City of Gainesville residents love where they live.

To promote all the awesome things to see and do in the City, the Gainesville CVB recently launched its newest “Love Where You Live” campaign, which focuses on education through exploration.

“Discover and even re-discover all the great things that Gainesville has to offer. From gardens, trails, museums and more, there is an adventure waiting for you in Gainesville!” said Tourism Director Robyn Lynch. “Even if you’ve been in Gainesville for years, there are lots of new treasures and attractions to explore.”

Those interested in participating, residents and visitors alike, can snag a “passport” meant to be marked at City attractions and events. Passports will either be stamped or hole-punched with a special shape.

“We will be handing them out at events and also at the Gainesville Visitor Center or they can get one from participating attractions,” said organizer CVB Sales & Marking Manager Regina Dyer.

Since the campaign runs through August, passports will be available at events including but not limited to Food Truck Friday, May 13 and June 10 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park; Blue Sky Concert Series, Wednesdays in May on the historic downtown square; First Friday Concert Series, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2 on the historic downtown square; Beach Bash, July 15 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park; etc.

Once passport holders visit a qualifying destination, they can request their passport be stamped. At some locations, it’s up to the passport holder to date and mark off themselves destinations visited.

Participating attractions include, but aren’t limited to the Atlanta Botanical Garden – Gainesville, Northeast Georgia History Center, Piedmont Hotel, Beulah Rucker Museum, The Arts Council, Linwood Nature Preserve, Quinlan Visual Arts Center, Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Elachee Nature Science Center, Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK), Frances Meadows Aquatic Center and Alta Vista Cemetery Walking Tour.

“Once they have eight stamped locations, they can drop by the Gainesville Visitor Center for a fun prize,” Dyer said, located on the first floor (suite 100) of the Gainesville Administration Building, 300 Henry Ward Way, Gainesville.

To further push the “Love Where You Live” campaign, the CVB will feature on social media (@ExploreGainesvilleGA) various attractions within the community, complete with photos and stories tagged with #LoveGVLGA. Keep tabs on your own “Love Where You Live” passport journey by sharing your adventures on social media with the hashtag above. Included with passports will be rack cards that include space to journal your thoughts and memories, making them easier to document then share online.

“We’ll be having fun with this,” Dyer said. “Weekly prizes include T-shirt giveaways, stickers, etc.”
