[ARCHIVED] CVB to host Gainesville Visitor Center open house May 3

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (April 25, 2022) – In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week May 1-7, the Gainesville Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will host an open house Tuesday, May 3, at the Gainesville Visitor Center.

“The purpose of this event is to bring community awareness to Gainesville’s new visitor center and to promote all of the incredible places that make Gainesville a great place to live and visit!” said Tourism Director Robyn Lynch.

The public is invited to visit any time from 1-5 p.m. at 300 Henry Ward Way, Gainesville. In addition to attracting residents and visitors alike to the Gainesville Visitor Center, which opened in September 2020, the CVB intends to unveil its newest “Love Where You Live” campaign spotlighting local attractions.

“During this time, we hope to give them the opportunity to see our new space, meet the CVB staff and visit with participating vendors,” said Public Relations Assistant Deb Gravitt, who oversees the welcome center. “We’re confident this will not only be an opportunity to showcase Gainesville as a whole, but the wonderful services and experiences provided by attractions to our community and our guests.”

Participating will be individuals representing historical sites, museums, the arts, lake life, gardens and parks, etc.

“Representatives will line the halls of the welcome center with tables to show off what they have to offer those coming into town, as well as those residing in our community,” Gravitt said.

The following attractions, among others, have been invited to participate in the open house:

Beulah Rucker Museum and Event Center

    Elachee Nature Science Center

    Gainesville Parks and Recreation

Interactive Neighborhood for Kids Inc. (INK)

    Lake Lanier Olympic Park

    Northeast Georgia History Center

Along with providing tourism information (local and statewide) and encouraging attendees to visit with each vendor, the CVB will also provide light refreshments.

“We expect this will be a positive and well-attended opportunity for residents and visitors to learn about the Gainesville Visitor Center and all it has to offer,” Gravitt said.

Those attending the open house will also have a chance to win prizes during one of several drawings throughout the day. If you are a local business/attraction that would like to contribute a prize for the drawing, please reach out to Gravitt via email, [email protected], or telephone, 770-531-6598, by no later than Wednesday, April 27.

Questions or concerns regarding the open house itself may also be directed to Gravitt via the contact information above.

The Gainesville Visitor Center is located on the first floor (south entrance) of the Gainesville Administration Building. Should parking be unavailable directly outside the building, spaces are always open in the Main Street Parking Deck, 301 Main St. SW; or Hall County Parking Facility, 225 Green St. SE.; both within walking distance to the event.
