GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Sep. 14, 2021) – All you need to do is take a drive around town or a stroll around the square to see just how fast the City of Gainesville is growing.
Many don't realize just how integral the Gainesville Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD) is to that process. The CEDD Planning Division is usually the first stop of a new construction project; this division issues permits and deals with any zoning questions. Some of the developments are assisted by the Housing Division for funding. The Building Inspection Services Division ensures a safe building environment, and Code Enforcement is responsible for signage as the development or business gets ready to open.
The CEDD Planning Division also maintains all the mapping for Gainesville. In order to assist with many of these tasks, CEDD has developed an interactive map with the current new construction activities within City limits. At the time this article was published, there were 52 new construction projects in Gainesville. These projects include everything from parking decks to apartments to businesses.
