6 qualify for seats on Gainesville City Council, BOE

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 19, 2021) – Several candidates have qualified for seats on the Gainesville City Council and Gainesville City Board of Education (BOE). The Gainesville City Clerk's Office released the information Thursday after the qualifying period ended Wednesday.

Seats up for election Nov. 2 on the City Council include the mayor, held by Danny Dunagan; Ward 1, held by Sam Couvillon; and Ward 4, held by George Wangemann. Seats up for election on the BOE include District 1, held by Andy Stewart; and District 4, held by Heather Ramsey.

The following individuals filed paperwork Aug. 16-18 and have been confirmed as qualified candidates for the Nov. 2 election:

• Sam Couvillon, Mayor, City Council

• Devin Pandy, Mayor, City Council

• Danny Dunagan, Ward 1, City Council

• George Wangemann, Ward 4, City Council

• Andy Stewart, District 1, BOE

• Heather Ramsey, District 4, BOE

The last day to register and be eligible to vote in the Nov. 2 election is Oct. 4. On Election Day, polls will open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. If needed, a runoff election will be held Nov. 30. Visit the 2021 Municipal Election page for the most current election information.
