GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 13, 2021) – Qualifying for seats on the Gainesville City Council and Gainesville City Board of Education (BOE) is slated daily from Monday, Aug. 16-Wednesday, Aug. 18.
Seats up for election Nov. 2 on the City council include the mayor, held by Danny Dunagan; Ward 1, held by Sam Couvillon; and Ward 4, held by George Wangemann. Seats up for election on the BOE include District 1, held by Andy Stewart; and District 4, held by Heather Ramsey.
Qualifying fees for seats above are: $864, mayor (City council); $819 for wards 1 and 4 (City council); and $174.60 for districts 1 and 4 (BOE).
Candidates may file all qualifying documents and pay fees from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 17 and 18 in the City Manager’s Office, located in suite 303 on the third floor of the Gainesville Administration Building, 300 Henry Ward Way, Gainesville. Please note staff will be unavailable from noon-1 p.m. during lunch.
The last day to register and be eligible to vote in the Nov. 2 election is Oct. 4. On Election Day, polls will open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. If needed, a runoff election will be held Nov. 30.
