[ARCHIVED] Gainesville, community partners to offer free COVID-19 vaccines

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (June 14, 2020) – Gainesville-Hall County residents and visitors 18 and over won’t have to travel far to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Moderna-brand vaccines will be administered free of charge from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 26 (first shot), and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 24 (second shot), at Fair Street Neighborhood Center, located at 715 Fair St., Gainesville.

This latest effort to vaccinate the community and ensure good health among residents is that of the City of Gainesville, specifically Gainesville City Council Ward 3 representative Barbara Brooks, in partnership with the Brenau University School of Nursing, Gainesville Parks and Recreation, Grace Episcopal Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church - Summit Street. As of June 10, data shows Hall County’s vaccination rate at 31.9%, according to the daily report on the Georgia Department of Public Health website.

Those interested in getting vaccinated are asked to RSVP by calling 770-654-1277 and leaving a voicemail with their name and telephone number. The request for participants to RSVP will help organizers secure an appropriate number of vaccines to accommodate everyone.

Brenau reps will handle registration on site both vaccination days. No prior online registration is necessary.
