The Gainesville City Council is responsible for appointing individuals to serve on various boards and committees. Appointees shall:
- Abide by the City's Code of Ethics
- Be residents of the City, excluding positions requiring special expertise
- Not have any outstanding debt owed to the City
- Accept the Oath of Office prior to voting on any matter
