CHIEF OF POLICEThe Gainesville Chief of Police oversees the overall function of the agency and works with the command staff to ensure the agency is meeting the standards of being a PILLAR in our community. The command staff consists of the Chief, Deputy Chief, and two Captains.Additionally, the following offices report directly to the Chief:

He assists the Chief in overseeing the overall function of the agency and works with the command staff to ensure the agency is meeting the standards of being a PILLAR in our community. Operations bureau captainThe Operations Bureau Captain oversees the backbone of our agency, patrol and criminal investigations. The patrol division responds to over 70,000+ calls for service annually, ranging from vehicle crashes to domestic violence cases. The criminal investigations division handles investigations after a police report of a crime has been taken. Investigations range from crimes against persons, property, and businesses. The following offices report directly to the Operations Bureau Captain:

support services BUREAU CAPTAINThe Support Services Bureau Captain oversees the majority of our agency's "behind the scenes" operations. It could be said that our agency's heart and passion come from this bureau, as it includes most of our professional staff (non-sworn employees), specialized units, and training division. The following offices report directly to the Support Services Bureau Captain:
