The City of Gainesville collects single-stream recycling and provides city customers with a recycling container. Recycling bins must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on your designated pickup day.

What can I recycle?
- Cans: Aluminum and tin cans. Rinse out, flatten (optional).
- Scrap metal: Less than 5 pounds and less than 18 inches in length.
- Paper:
- Catalogs
- Cereal boxes
- Clean and dry newspapers
- Hardback or paperback books
- Magazines
- Mail
- Paperboard boxes
- Paper bags
- Paper frozen food boxes
- Phonebooks
- Writing paper
- Plastic - Bottles No. 1 and No. 2, such as those used to hold detergent, milk, soda or shampoo. Rinse out and remove lids.
- Cardboard - Flattened boxes (must fit in recycling bin).
