Vote for Your Favorite Rain Barrel

The 5th Annual Rain Barrel Decorating Contest is now underway
sponsored by Gainesville Public Utilities Department. This year’s
theme is Lake Lanier. Six area schools and more than 150 students
decorated barrels now on display at Frances Meadows Aquatic
Center until April 23. The barrels highlight Lake Lanier’s attributes
including recreation, fishing, drinking water treatment and more. Some
have even been transformed into a dragon boat, bait crate and frog.

The participating schools are Chestatee Academy, East Hall, North
Hall and West Hall Middle Schools along with Chestatee and West Hall
High Schools.

You can see the rain barrels and vote on the city website
www.gainesville.org/outdoor-water-use-schedule or on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/gainesvillewater.  A new poll will be available daily
on Facebook or you can email your vote to contest@gainesville.org.
Voting ends at noon on Thursday, April 25.

The winners will be announced at the Spring Chicken Festival on
Saturday, April 27 in downtown Gainesville. First place students
will receive a pizza party, bragging rights, and a trophy for the school
to display for one year.
