Get your Office, Scout Group, or Church Class certified in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, Pet First Aid, or Baby Sitter Training by certified instructors at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center.

Waterpark Lifeguard Course - To teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies both in a pool and at a waterpark environment. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breast stroke.
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Ages 11-14
Receive Certification in Guard Start, First Aid, CPR, AED
$115/$105 City Residents
Where: Frances Meadows CenterImprove endurance, stroke mechanics, strength and skills necessary to become a lifeguard at 16.
Pre-requisites:
Swim Front Crawl 25 yards continuously swimming breathing front to side;
Tread water for 1 minute using arms and legs;
Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater.
Register by March 23.
