Public Safety Academy Registration Underway

Registration is underway now for the 5th annual Public Safety Academy featuring a behind the scenes look at the Gainesville Police and Fire Departments. The ten-week program, designed to familiarize citizens with all areas of law enforcement and fire operations, will include classes on crime prevention, gangs and narcotics and fire safety. Students will also participate in a police patrol ride along and suit up in 50 pounds of fire gear. The course is taught by law enforcement officers and firefighters who serve in the field each and every day.

Both agencies have state-of-the-art facilities located on the same property and wish to showcase their equipment, training and capabilities.

Enrollment is open to all residents of Gainesville and Hall County who are 21 years or older, register early as class size is limited to 25 students. Every applicant shall be subject to a criminal history background check and must have a clear criminal history (exceptions are minor traffic offenses).

Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30pm – 9:00pm May 9 - July 18, 2017. The registration deadline is May 3, 2017.
