Mayor Ruth Bruner

As Mayor of the City of Gainesville, I would like to welcome you to the City of Gainesville's website. We are a progressive community offering a wide variety of services which include police and fire protection, maintenance of streets and infrastructure, parks, recreational activities and cultural events, planning, zoning, and building inspection services, water and water pollution control services, and an airport. As the county-seat for Hall County, Georgia, we work with other local governments to implement changes that will benefit the Gainesville/Hall County community.

Gainesville is the economic center for northeast Georgia. It is my pleasure to call attention to a few of our assets.

• The Gainesville Metropolitan Statistical Area serves as the home of fifty Fortune 500 companies

• Gainesville is the home of the top ten international firms

• Gainesville has state-of-the-art medical facilities, physicians, nurses and support staff
   
• Gainesville has seven industrial parks

• Gainesville is the home of the Lake Lanier Olympic Center which was the rowing, canoe and kayak venue for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.

The City as a whole has become a City of Excellence through the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and has earned GMA's prestigious Trendsetter Award. It is equally important to recognize the accomplishments of our departments and their staff who have worked diligently to earn an  ISO Class II rating within the Fire Department, national accreditation within the Parks and Recreation Department as well as the Police Department and multiple state recognitions within the Administrative Services and the Public Utilities Departments. These accomplishments bring benefits to our residents and demonstrate the dedication of our workforce toward making Gainesville a great place to work, live and play.
