Lieutenant Carol Martin Promoted to Captain

Gainesville Police Chief Brian P. Kelly today announced the promotion of Lieutenant Carol Martin, a twenty-five year veteran of the Gainesville Police Department, to Police Captain.  Martin will begin her new position as Captain with the Gainesville Police Department on Monday, April 16, 2012.
 
Chief Kelly selected Martin from several internal candidates saying that she has a great deal of knowledge and experience with our agency, the community and with the law enforcement profession.  “As a veteran officer, Carol has served in patrol, traffic, criminal investigations and served as program manager for both the State Certification and International Accreditation programs.  Carol is a graduate of Brenau College earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  Additionally, she has numerous hours in police supervision and management training.  I look forward to working with Carol as a member of the executive staff of the police department and I know she will do a great job,” Kelly said.
 
Martin’s job will include overseeing the department’s Support Services Bureau which encompasses the responsibilities of directing the activities within the Criminal Investigation Division, Records Division, Training Division, Warrant Division and the Fleet and Physical Plant Management of the agency.
 
Martin’s promotion to Captain fills the recent vacancy created by the promotion of Captain Paul Sherman to the position of Major.
