Lenox Drive Reopened

The City of Gainesville announced the reopening of Lenox Drive off
Athens Highway today following a month long project to rebuild a
portion of the road that was undermined following the failure of a storm
drain pipe. According to Senior Civil Engineer, Stan Aiken, extra
measures were taken to insure the area is stronger than ever. “We
installed 166 feet of 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe with wing walls
to allow for greater capacity. We also reconstructed and grassed the
embankment, placed rip rap (large graded rock) in a portion of the
channel to protect it from erosion and armored the upstream
embankment with rip rap as well,” Aiken said.
The City would like to thank the neighborhood for their patience over
the past four weeks.
