Gainesville Welcomes Georgia BASS Federation Nation State Classic

More than 200 members of the Georgia B.A.S.S. Federation Nation will descend upon Gainesville over the next few days for the State Classic. Jeff Jones, President of the Georgia B.A.S.S. Federation, said this is their first time on Lake Lanier. “We are very excited about bringing the tournament to Lake Lanier. The first flights will head out around 7:00am Friday and Saturday. The awards ceremony will begin at 5:00pm Saturday,” Jones said.

Gainesville Tourism and Trade Manager Deb Gregson said this has certainly been the year for fishing tournaments. “When you have a venue like Lake Lanier and ramps and access like Laurel Park it’s easy to understand why so many groups want to come here. It’s been great working with the anglers and the weekend weather appears to be perfect for fishing, “Gregson said.

Following the tournament, 14 adults and two youth will proceed to the Southern Divisional in Tennessee in mid-April then on to the Bassmaster Classic in October.
