Dust off your walking shoes. The City of Gainesville will kick off a

community health initiative called Gainesville Walks on Monday,

March 31 at 6:00pm at Fair Street School.

Mayor Danny Dunagan said the community is encouraged to Exercise,

Socialize, and find time to walk in April. “We are partnering with several

local organizations including the Newtown Florist Club, Gainesville

Parks and Recreation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County, and

Brenau University. Walking does not require any special equipment

and it’s free! We will be focusing on five areas where Gainesville is

already walking and running: Rock Creek Greenway, Midtown

Greenway, Riverside Drive, Brenau University Mile, Fair Street

Neighborhood, or any neighborhood near you!” Mayor Dunagan said.

Maps of the routes are posted on the city’s website

http://www.gainesville.org/gainesvillewalks and walkers who

send their accomplishments to gainesvillewalks@gainesville.org will be

highlighted on the City’s Facebook page.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 50 walkers who show up for the kick

off Monday, March 31 at 6:00pm at Fair Street School.
