Carmina Burana by Carl Orff
Few choral masterworks engender the “gut response” that this incredible composition by the German composer Carl Orff receives every time it is presented.  The lyrics are taken from ancient manuscripts found in Bavaria representing the popular songs of a wide area of the western world in the 11^th and 12^th centuries and celebrate the coming of spring, falling in love, and other more earthly desires (!).   Carmina Burana is a chorus enthusiast’s favorite.
