MEALS ON WHEELS
The Meals on Wheels program is a nutrition program for frail elderly persons living in Hall County. Approximately 350 seniors receive hot lunches delivered by friendly volunteers each Monday through Friday. For some seniors, this daily visit may be the only social interaction they have during the day. Volunteers are also able to make referrals to staff when they notice that clients may have other social services needs. When a senior begins receiving meals, staff ensures that they have working smoke detectors, a numbered mailbox, and an offer of free pet food for their animals. The Gainesville-Hall County Meals on Wheels program is nationally accredited through the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
Donations can be made to the Meals on Wheels program. All private contributions to the program are donor restricted and will only be used to purchase meals.
