Financial ServicesThe main feature of Financial Services is the Center For Family Prosperity (CFP). This is a collaboration of the City of Gainesville, Hall County Government, Brenau University, Gainesville Housing Authority and the United Way of Hall County and it is designed to help working families improve their financial position.This program offers: -Financial Emergency Assistance is available to eligible families. -Financial Education courses -Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Sites (VITA)– free income tax preparation-This program is a national initiative of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that offers FREE tax help to low- to moderate-income families. IRS certified and trained volunteers help prepare basic tax returns and help working families access special tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly for which they may qualify. VITA sites are generally located at convenient locations. Each location offers free electronic filing. Volunteers are needed during the tax season to assume different roles.
