Business Police Academy Registration UnderwayRegistration is underway for the 8th annual Business Police Academysponsored by the Gainesville Police Department. The first class will be held on Tuesday, September 13 from 6:30pm-9:00pm. The targeted audience for the Business Police Academy is the business community including business owners, managers and employees. Participants must be at least 21 years old and will be subject to a background check. The Academy is planned and organized by Crime Prevention Officers Joe Britte and Kevin Holbrook. Britte said the eleven week course will include information especially beneficial to business owners. “The lessons will include education on shoplifting prevention, identity theft, credit card fraud, counterfeit money, and criminal investigations. Participants will also learn about robbery prevention, court room procedures and testimony,” Britte said. “This Academy should be the best so far since we are housed in our new facility. Students will learn more than they ever expected,” Holbrook said. The registration deadline is August 26.
