Burn Ban Lifted Oct. 1, But Permit Still Required

The statewide burn ban, in effect since May 1, will be lifted Saturday,
October 1. Gainesville Fire Marshal Chad Payne said anyone who
lives in the City must call the Fire Department for a burn permit before
any controlled burn. “We issue permits during the week and on the
weekend. If you want to conduct a burn call 770-534-3612. A
Gainesvillefirefighter will visit your residence and provide a permit and
determine if conditions are favorable,” Payne said.

The permit is only good on the day it is issued. For more information
