“Bring One for the Chipper” and get some free mulch at the Hall County Recycling Center starting Jan. 10.
Residents may drop off Christmas trees (devoid of decorations) at any of the 13 Hall County compactor sites or the Recycling Center at 1008 Chestnut Street, Gainesville. City of Gainesville residents may leave their trees at curbside. Oakwood city residents may drop off their Christmas trees for recycling on the vacant lot next to the mulch pile on the corner of Allen Street and Railroad Street.
Tree will be chipped into mulch or used as fish habitat. Mulch will be made available to all beginning the week of Jan. 10 at the Hall County Recycling Center. Residents’ vehicles will be loaded free from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday while supply lasts.
“Bring one for the Chipper” is Georgia's annual Christmas tree recycling program. Since its inception in 1987, the “Bring One for the Chipper” program has recycled more than 2 million Christmas trees. The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards.
